Poutine Pix - 180

In about one week's time, the musical invasion that is Pop Montreal begins. Rather than take a week off to relax or fortify yourself for the fest, we recommend checking out some of the shows below, as a kind of sonic preparation. Think of it as a few musical stretches before the big race. There's a great track on here by Foals this week, and I'm happy to finally be announcing the launch of Erin Lang's debut album, You Are Found. It's also one of our co-host's birthday this week, so there's plenty to talk about. Listen in...

Sonny and the Sunsets - Stranded on Planet Earth
Best Coast - Boyfriend
Male Bonding - Pumpkin
Radar Brothers - Horses Warriors
Teenage Fanclub - Baby Lee
Erin Lang - You're Better Off
Matt Stern - I Wanna See You
Paul Cargnello & The Frontlines - Une Rose Noire
Random Recipe - Shipwreck
Eamon McGrath - Dark End of the Street
Jason Webley - Dance While the Sky Crashes Down
The Coast - Heartbreak City
Superchunk - Digging for Something
Sandman Viper Command - The Best of Plans
Foals - Spanish Sahara

Poutine Pix - 179

This week features the triumphant return of podcast co-host Greg Bouchard. We celebrate his homecoming by mocking him and refusing to listen to anything he has to tell us about his summer travels. As always, the real focus of the show is the music, and there's tons to check out this weekend. You'd think the city would be taking it easy in the run up to POP, but nooooo...Don't wear yourself out, MTL.

Solids - Whatevers and Neverminds
David Bazan - Magazine
Tera Melos - Frozen Zoo
The Poison Control Center - Cognac Dreams
The Strange Boys - Be Brave
Intensive Care - Tales of Sarah Jane, the Golden Horse
The Jon Cohen Experimental - Behold
Seawolf - Turn the Dirt Over
Cab - What my Baby Wants
Gonzales - Knight Moves
Caribou - Odessa
Barton Fink - Gimme Some More
The Pack A.D. - BC is on Fire
Dig It Up - Love & Whiskey
Gram Parsons - Love Hurts

Poutine Pix - 178

The podcast took a while to recover from the long weekend, so I'm a day late in posting this episode. Luckily, none of you probably noticed. For those in Montreal, be sure to listen for the ultra cool gig that's half music, half orienteering course as well as a charity concert for Haiti a few friends of mine are organizing. More details on that over at Midnight Poutine. Ok, here's the show:

Happy Birthday - Subliminal Messages
Craig Cardiff - Dearest When You Called
Erin Lang - Daisy
Julie Fader - Walking & Talking
Daniel Sky - So Fine
Pop Winds - Met Some New Colors
Prince Rama - Lightening Fossil
Grimes - Zoal, Face Dancer
School of Seven Bells - Babelonia
Garotas Suecas - Bugalu
B.A. Johnston - I Dream in Poutine
Junior Battles - Basements
Hey Predator! - Voyeurs
AIDS Wolf - Teaching to Suffer

Ok. Summer "vacation" is officially over, and it's time to get back to the mic. Luckily, Midnight Poutine hasn't suffered in my absence, thanks to the amazing work by our dedicated replacement hosts. You'll be hearing lots more from them throughout the year and we'll be mixing up our show just to keep you guessing. For now though, let's see what's in town this weekend.....

Poutine Pix - 158

In case you hadn't heard, I've been a bit indisposed lately. Apparently twins and Midnight Poutine present slightly incompatible schedules. I pull myself together for this episode though, mostly to say a fond farewell to my co-host Greg Bouchard. Don't worry, it's just for the summer. And we've managed to find a few replacement hosts so you won't have a summer full of radio silence. Until Gabby and Luc and the rest of the newbies take the reigns, here's this the latest episode. Au revoir Greg, bienvenue Rachel et Justine.

Plants and Animals - The Mama Papa
First Rate People - Girls' Night
Sean Nicholas Savage - Paradise O Paradise
Here We Go Magic - Percussion Gun
Rae Spoon - There is a Light
Meta Gruau - Superball
Bluebird - Drunk on Movement
Caroline Keating - Lusty Dusty
Parhéli - A L'envers
Bill Toms - There Was a Time
The Youjsh - On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, But Steve Day Can't Hear Shit
Grand Trine - Prescription Drugs

Poutine Pix - 154

For the last three and a half years, we've been broadcasting the Midnight Poutine podcast from a ramshackle room with a mic and a computer. This week we say goodbye to the beloved Studio B. We’d like to say we’re moving up in the world, but we’re just moving around the corner. Still, it’s an excuse to celebrate, and we do so in style. The lovely and local Erin Lang joins us for a live performance and a mini send off to the first (but not the last) headquarters of the Midnight Poutine podcast:

The Belle Game - Shoulders & Turns
Sea Bear - Lion Faced Boy
Gabrielle Papillon - Dust to Gold
Wye Oak - I Hope You Die
Erin Lang - Good Years (Live in Studio)
The Hoof and the Heel - Let’s Hangout
Make the Girl Dance - Baby Baby Baby
Javelin - Me Thing Drawing Me
Times Neue Roman - Best Est. 2019
Beach House - Lover of Mine
Dirty Wedding - Indian Summer
Your Little Dragon - Blinking Pigs
Magik Markers - Don’t Talk in Your Sleep
DCT - Hate Crimes
Erin Lang - Banjo Song (Live in Studio)
